Bogota, Colombia | November 15th, 2023

This week, the Board of Directors of Greenwood Energy has announced the appointment of Marcos Páez Saavedra as Country Manager of its Colombian subsidiary, who will lead the company’s operations in the country and will report directly to the CEO of Greenwood Energy, Guido Patrignani. The announcement is part of the global expansion strategy carried out by the company, which already counts with consolidated operations in Colombia and Panama and is advancing projects in other countries of the region, such as the Dominican Republic.

With 25 years of experience in the IT, telecommunications and renewable energy sectors, Marcos has built a career focused on innovation and value creation through the application of the latest technological trends in a wide range of industries. Prior to joining Greenwood Energy, he has served as Director of Energy Efficiency & Solar Energy at Greenyellow, where he led the development of projects for a total of $60 million. He also held the position of C&I Manager at Trina Solar, where, among other milestones, he collaborated with the awarding of 290MW to the company in an auction promoted by the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy. Before joining Trina Solar, Marcos was Energy Solutions Manager at Panasonic, where he was responsible for consolidating the company as an EPC service provider for solar energy, security, and HVAC projects. He has also held various positions in companies that provide engineering services for telecommunications companies, such as Equans, an Engie/Bouygues company, and Colvantel, a subsidiary of Empresas de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá, where he has acquired valuable experience in the Telecommunications and ICT sector.

“At this moment, our company is not only growing in other countries but also in the development of energy solutions for new sectors, with a special focus on telecommunications. That is why we are honored to have Marcos’ leadership on our Colombia team, bringing decades of combined experience in solar energy and telecommunications, thus guaranteeing the operational excellence that we have committed to delivering to our clients,” said Guido Patrignani. “Our expansion plan is based on underpinning the technical and executive rigor that characterizes us, without relegating the flexibility and operational agility that have differentiated our company, which we consider essential to achieve responsible scalability of our model throughout the region.”

As the new Country Manager of the Colombian subsidiary, Marcos will help amplify Greenwood Energy’s growth in the country, leading the effective deployment of all the indigenous solar power generation sites of TERRɅ INITIɅTIVE, the company’s flagship project, as well as the implementation of innovative energy solutions focused on reducing the operating costs of the largest energy consumers in Colombia. “I assume with great responsibility and commitment this leadership challenge at Greenwood Energy, for the expansion of our high-performance work teams, and the consolidation of the innovative vision of the company, which has successfully established a disruptive business model in the market,” commented Marcos Páez. “I feel honored for the trust that the Board of Directors has placed in me, as well as by the positive reception I have received from the leaders of the Arhuaco People, with whom we are already defining the last details before the start of the construction of the first TERRɅ site during the first half of 2024.”
